Meta-writing
In The Nonwriter's Guide to Writing A Lot, Horton writes about meta-writing. It is a vague term describing anything that comes to mind ("goals, plans, tasks, observations, and daydreams"). I see it as journal entries, but Horton says it is too dull to call it that.
Horton says that this writing can directly lead to publishable material. I think that may be the case for some authors, but I am trying to avoid this kind of writing. I have written this way for many years and it has ultimately led to nothing published.
